Ingredients

  • ½ cup wheat flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup ghee / clarified butter
  • cups hot water
  • 2 tbsp nuts
  • ¼ tsp cardamom powder

Instructions

  • Heat ½ cup ghee in a pan. Roast cashews and almonds until golden, then remove and set aside.
  • In the same ghee, add wheat flour and roast on medium flame until it turns aromatic and golden brown.
  • Add sugar and mix well.
  • Slowly pour in 2½ cups hot water, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. (Do not use cold water, as it lowers the temperature.)
  • Keep stirring until the halwa thickens, releases ghee, and leaves the sides of the pan.
  • Add cardamom powder and the roasted nuts, mix well.
  • For halwa pieces, grease a plate, spread the halwa evenly, smooth the top, and cut into pieces once set.
  • Serve it hot or warm.

Notes

  1. You can also add nuts while roasting the flour instead of in the beginning.
  2. Stir continuously to prevent lumps.
  3. Adjust sugar as per your taste.
  4. You can also add 1 tbsp sooji upma rava in the flour for little coarse texture.
