Wheat Halwa Recipe | Godhuma Halwa | Atta Halwa for Festivals
Ingredients
- ½ cup wheat flour
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup ghee / clarified butter
- 2½ cups hot water
- 2 tbsp nuts
- ¼ tsp cardamom powder
Instructions
- Heat ½ cup ghee in a pan. Roast cashews and almonds until golden, then remove and set aside.
- In the same ghee, add wheat flour and roast on medium flame until it turns aromatic and golden brown.
- Add sugar and mix well.
- Slowly pour in 2½ cups hot water, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. (Do not use cold water, as it lowers the temperature.)
- Keep stirring until the halwa thickens, releases ghee, and leaves the sides of the pan.
- Add cardamom powder and the roasted nuts, mix well.
- For halwa pieces, grease a plate, spread the halwa evenly, smooth the top, and cut into pieces once set.
- Serve it hot or warm.
Notes
- You can also add nuts while roasting the flour instead of in the beginning.
- Stir continuously to prevent lumps.
- Adjust sugar as per your taste.
- You can also add 1 tbsp sooji upma rava in the flour for little coarse texture.
