Sweet Potato is a delicious and healthy Indian flatbread recipe prepared with mashed sweet potato, wheat flour and spices. It is very easy to prepare and a very healthy breakfast or dinner for the kids. Unlike the other traditional paratha recipes, the sweet potato puree is directly added to the wheat flour then make dough. This recipe is ideal for lunch boxes and also can be served as a snack with pickle or yogurt or raita.
Sweet potatoes are rich in fiber, minerals, and loaded with vitamin A and other essential vitamins.

Step by step photo instructions
- Steam or cook 2 sweet potatoes in cooker for 1 whistle.
2. Cool the sweet potatoes and peel the skin off and mash it smooth.
3. add 1 cup wheat flour, 1/4 tsp turmeric, 1/2 tsp jeera powder, 3-4 tsp green chilies, 1/4 tsp red chili powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp ginger paste, 1tsp ghee, coriander leaves, and 1/8 tsp hing.
4. Mix well making sure the spices are well combined.
5. Add 1 cup wheat flour and mix sweet potato and flour to form dough. Do not need any water.
6. Knead the dough well. Add 1 tsp oil.
7. Knead again to a smooth and soft dough and rest for 10-15 minutes. Same with any colored sweet potatoes. Here I used orange and white sweet potatoes.
8. Pinch a ball sized dough. Dust with wheat flour and roll to roll it in thinly like chapati or paratha.
9. Now place the rolled paratha on a hot tawa and cook for a minute.
10. When the base is partly cooked, flip the paratha.
11. Apply butter or oil on both sides and press slightly.
12. Flip again once or twice till both the sides are cooked properly and till brown spots appeared.
13. Serve sweet potato paratha with raita and pickle or any curry would also goes well.

Instructions

Tips
- You can use orange variety or white or purple sweet potatoes.
- Usually no water is needed while making dough, add water accordingly if you think the dough is dry or hard.
- You can change or substitute masalas or spices added to the sweet potato.
