Momo Chutney with step by step pictures. Momos are served with this spicy and bright red colored chutney to enhance the taste of momos. Here I am showing 2 ways to make Momo Chutney.

Momo Chutney – 1

Step by step photo instructions

  • Take 3 tomatoes-deseeded, 4 soaked byadagi/kashmiri red chillies, 4 garlic pods, 2 tsp vinegar and 1 tsp salt in a blender. Grind to a smooth paste.

Momo Chutney – 2

  1. Heat 2-3 cups water in a pan and let it come to a boil. When the water comes to a boil, then add 3 medium or 2 large tomatoes and 4 dry red chilies in it. You can deseed the red chilies before adding them in hot water to reduce the spiciness.

2. Boil the tomatoes on a medium flame for 5-7 minutes or until you see cracks on tomato skin.

3. Then strain the water and let the tomatoes and red chilies cool and peel the skin of tomatoes.

4. Now transfer the tomatoes and chillies to the blender, add 5 garlic pods, salt, 1/2 tsp soy sauce and 1 tsp vinegar and 1 tsp sugar. Blend them without adding water.

5. Momos chutney/sauce is ready to enjoy with Wheat momos. This chutney is also good with samosa, pakoras and is also useful to apply on a dosa before adding potato masala on it.

  • red chillies – 4, adjust to your spice level
  • salt – to taste
  • garlic – 5 pods
  • soy sauce – 1/2 tsp
  • vinegar – 1 tsp
  • sugar – 1 tsp

Tips

  1. You may add pepper and reduce the red chillies quantity.
  2. Adjust the amount of sugar depending on the sourness of tomatoes.
  3. Momos chutney stays good for a more than a week when refrigerated.
