It’s fruity, refreshing and gorgeously full of antioxidants, and also sugar-free, gluten-free, fat-free, sodium-free. Indeed… it may be just what you need to beat the summer heat. Different types of Melons have always been the summer favorite. Different melons bring different qualities and flavor.

The fruit choice is a magic combination, that complements in flavor as well as offering a gorgeous pink hue to the glass… This smoothie contains Honeydew melon, strawberries, banana, lime, ice, little honey for sweetness and a hint of lemon zest. Banana helps thicken the mix, but also brings some sweetness. Lemon juice and zest bring the punch you needed in a smoothie.

You may think.. Melon may not be the obvious choice for a smoothie. But once tried, you may find it being regularly dropped into the blender. It brings a uniqueness of flavor that pairs with so many other fruits… Enhancing without over-powering, yet holding its own to be distinctly recognizable with every sip. Try it once and Melon Smoothie will be understood.

What’s in the smoothie?

Honeydew Melon: Melons are low in calories and have a high water content, which makes them very weight loss and diabetic friendly. 1 cup of honeydew has only 60 calories, 51% of vitamin C daily value and 11% of potassium. Honeydew also contains some fiber, folate and vitamin B6.

Banana: Bananas are rich in potassium, antioxidants and other nutrients, supports digestive health and heart health. Potassium in the banana will keep you energetic and help maintain normal levels of fluid inside our cells and also helps muscles to contract and supports normal blood pressure.

Strawberries: These are rich in phosphorus, magnesium and calcium. These potent little packages protect your heart, good for diabetic people, increase HDL (good) cholesterol, lower your blood pressure, and guard against cancer. Packed with vitamins, fiber, and particularly high levels of antioxidants. strawberries are a sodium-free, fat-free, cholesterol-free, low-calorie food.

Honey: is rich in antioxidants. Better for blood sugar levels than regular sugar, promotes burn and wound healing, and best cough suppressant. But vegan people may substitute honey with maple syrup. But the honey or maple syrup is entirely optional to the recipe.
